December marked a momentous occasion for our Oklahoma Division as we reflected on the legacy of a visionary leader who helped transform emergency medical services for the Perkins community. Nearly 15 years ago, five dedicated volunteers – Jerry Moeller, Rex Horning, Bill Sasser, Gary Clark and Rick Jarvis – came together to form the Western Payne County Ambulance Trust Authority (WPCATA). Their mission was clear: to establish a new EMS system to better serve that community.
Among them was Bill Sasser, a lifelong advocate for the town of Perkins, whose passion and tireless efforts made a lasting impact. Bill’s commitment to his community extended far beyond words – he took action to ensure that Perkins had the resources it needed for emergency medical care.
Through his determination, the dream of a dedicated ambulance for Perkins became a reality. In December 2019, an ambulance was officially stationed in Perkins, a milestone that forever changed the landscape of emergency services in the county. Their achievement would not have been possible without Bill’s relentless advocacy and deep-seated dedication to his community.
Now, five years later, we celebrate the anniversary of that milestone and honor Bill Sasser’s enduring contributions to the community he loved so dearly. In recognition of his legacy, the Perkins ambulance station has been named in his honor.
At LifeNet, we are proud to carry forward Bill’s vision by providing exceptional EMS services to Perkins an the surrounding areas. Thank you, Bill, for everything you did, and continue to do, to make Perkins a stronger community!
